Retro Camper Card Tutorial

In this video tutorial, we'll use the Retro Camper digi stamp and coordinating patterned papers to create three colorful handmade cards inspired by travel, adventure, and the fun of life on the road.

You'll see how the same camper artwork can take on a completely different personality by changing the background papers, layout, sentiment, focal shapes, and embellishments. Follow along with all three projects or use the finished cards as inspiration for camper-themed designs of your own.

We'll work through the complete cardmaking process—from coloring and preparing the Retro Camper digi stamp to selecting coordinating papers, building layered backgrounds, and arranging the focal elements.

Along the way, you'll learn simple ways to combine bold patterns, create visual interest with paper strips and layered shapes, and add finishing details such as twine, buttons, hearts, banners, scalloped edges, bunting, and small dimensional embellishments.

Life's a Journey Card

For our first card, we'll combine soft pink diagonal stripes with a deep purple polka-dot paper and a bright turquoise scalloped border.

The Retro Camper sits across the lower half of the design alongside a coordinating potted plant. A large stitched heart, button, and tied twine add a handmade focal detail near the top of the card. The mixed-font sentiment, "Life's a journey… enjoy the ride," is arranged in layered sections to create a playful, collected look that complements the scrapbook-style background.

This card is perfect for celebrating a new chapter, a road trip, retirement, moving, or simply encouraging someone to enjoy the journey.

Adventure Awaits Card

For the second card, we'll create an open, cheerful scene using a soft blue background with loosely brushed white texture.

A colorful strand of bunting frames the camper from above, while the green meadow paper creates a whimsical place for it to park. Pink gingham layers along the bottom add another pattern and a soft pop of color, finished with wrapped twine and a loose bow.

The layered "Adventure Awaits" sentiment gives this card an upbeat, encouraging feeling that works beautifully for travel, graduation, a new job, retirement, or any exciting adventure ahead.

Home Is Where We Park It Card

Our final card features a bold turquoise patterned background filled with scattered white marks.

We'll create a large circular sentiment panel with a purple scalloped mat, giving the message a strong focal point behind the camper. A vertical banner, tied twine, small heart embellishment, gray grounding strip, and tiny gems add dimension without making the design feel crowded.

The sentiment, "Home is where we park it," makes this card especially fun for campers, travelers, RV lovers, and anyone who believes home is wherever the next adventure takes them.
